GIOVANNI BIRINDELLI, 4 July 2012

(Original publication: Movimeto Libertario)

In any case, Mr Birindelli makes clear that in some cases our apparent disagreement stemmed from misunderstandings. But his very fertile mind also induces him to push forward some new and interesting problems. Continue reading

Debate: Monopoly, Property Rights and Competition (4)

Prof. PASCAL SALIN, 17 December 2009

(Original publication: Catallaxy Institute)

From our previous discussion, it seems that Mr Birindelli and I do agree on the fact that defining competition and monopolies is not an easy task, but that the real issues are about the role of property rights and the freedom to enter into a market. Now, Continue reading

Debate: Monopoly, Property Rights and Competition (2)

Prof. PASCAL SALIN, 10 November 2009

(Original Publication: Catallaxy Institute)

Mr. Birindelli took the time to debate about one of my statements concerning competition and he is proposing some stimulating ideas to which I am eager to answer. He stresses that there are important differences between two monopoly situations which I had considered in the interview, namely the case of a successful firm like Microsoft and the case of a “natural monopoly” such as the case in which there is only one possible railway between two cities. He explains Continue reading
